Iran accused of hosting and assisting al-Qaeda

By al-Sadr's office. No, really. What's going on? I haven't a clue, but Iraq the Model speculates.

Iran and al-Qaeda? No! Now I am shocked.

Indeed MHA. But really, what is Sadr's point here? ITM has ideas, though I'm unsure how correct he may be. I think Sadr may be trying to play both ends against the middle. Setting up his independence from Iran (with their acquiescence), ingratiating himself in Iraq. Nervy of him I think. But he may be able to pull it off. The great middle game I'm thinking.

luther,

You may be right. Very hard to say. People like Sadr are in an extremely difficult position, to say the least. And there is no way that I believe that these folks in Iraq at the top of the current government woke up the day after the invasion as George Washington, with a deep sense of democracy in their bones.
